The Founding Chapter

Institutions are built on belief before they are built on anything else. The Midunu Institute opens its founding chapter in 2027, alongside the publication of Gather and Feast, and a small circle of founding partners will build it with us. There are four ways in.

Name a Fellowship

One patron, one Auntie, one cohort of young women, one year. The most intimate way to hold the mission: your name carried permanently by a fellowship that keeps one woman's knowledge alive and trains the women who will carry it.

Commission a Work

The Institute's installations and publications are commissioned, not sponsored: patrons and institutions bring a work into the world, and each work carries the research that grows the archive. The next major work opens in Accra in 2028.

Join the Founding Table

A founding circle, capped at fifty and invited personally: a seat at the annual gathering, a name on the founding roll, and first place at the table as the Institute grows.

Build the Archive

For foundations and institutions: multi-year partnership on the documentation of African culinary knowledge, under an ethical framework in which communities remain the owners of what they share.

Every founding conversation begins in person, usually at the table. Write to info@midunuinstitute.org with the subject line 'Founding' and we will find a date.
